FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 13, 2026
Zero Waste Ithaca will be at the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance this July, encouraging festivalgoers to skip disposables by bringing their own reusable cups, bottles, utensils, and napkins.
The BYO campaign complements dishwashing and composting efforts by preventing disposable waste before it is created.
Festivalgoers who bring their own can visit the ZWI table for a free “I Brought My Own” GrassRoots 2026 sticker, while supplies last, plus cold garden-infused water for anyone who brought a cup. Flavors depend on what’s fresh from the garden.
“This is a simple, joyful way to make reuse visible. Festivals create a lot of disposable waste, but they also create culture. When people bring their own cup, bottle, utensils, or napkin, they help normalize reuse in public spaces.”
